Hey, good morning. Dwight Kopp here with Forgotten Mountain. I’ve had several customers reach out to me lately about adding a window grille to a window that already has window grilles baked in between the glass.
Existing Grilles
So in a lot of the new construction windows, you have multiple layers or panes of glass to make up each sash, and sometimes between them, there are integrated grilles. Now it’s a nice idea until you want to change the grilles out or change the colors. Now, most of the time our window grilles mount on top of those windows and it’s just fine. Now, because those grilles are integrated between the glass, there’s really no way to remove them.
Add Decorative Grille
So most of the folks who install our window grilles on windows like that, just kind of ignore them. And when you put our window grille on the inside, the existing window grille pattern behind them sort of disappears. Now it’s still there and you can see it, but your eyes are drawn to the pattern of the window grille in front, especially if it’s a darker color. So generally speaking, most of the time, just adding a window grille on top will do the job. If you’re not sure, reach out to me. We might be able to help you with a mockup so that you can see what it’ll look like before you pull the trigger. Anyway, hope that helps. Give me a call if you have any questions.
