Hey, Dwight Kopp here with Forgotten Mountain.
Window in a Shower?
I’ve had several people reach out to me lately asking if I could build a window grille to install in their shower. Now, apparently these folks have an actual window in their shower, which in my opinion is rather a dicey business to begin with.
And as you can imagine, they are trying to find some way to increase the level of privacy in that space, which I totally understand, so that they don’t become the scandal of their neighborhood.
Wood Window Grille Solution?
However, in my opinion, using our window grilles in a shower is not ideal because our grille material is not made for high moisture environments. We use a birch multiply. It’s great for interior use. It’s very stable.
However, if you’re going to put something in a shower, it has to be able to withstand high moisture, and I don’t believe our material is going to do that in the long run. And even though I would love to help these folks make grilles for their showers, I’m just not convinced that it’s going to do the job for them in the long term and keep ’em happy.
Great for privacy – just not great for showers!
If you are looking for a privacy application, the grilles are great and the application of the solar screen add-on as well certainly increases the level of privacy, but either way, I’d recommend against using those in a high moisture environment like a shower.
I hope that helps. Take care.
