How To Hide An Ugly Router

Hey, Dwight Kopp here with Forgotten Mountain.

I’ve had several customers reach out to me with a pretty cool idea that I thought I’d share.

Hide your router!

They have created a new space to keep their router. If you have Wi-Fi, then you probably have a router and just like them. I imagine you’ve looked at your router and thought, wow, that is ugly. Well, because a router makes heat, a router does need to be able to breathe. So it’s not like you can just stuff it into a cabinet and be done with it. So what a couple of customers have done is they’ve taken our window grilles or mullions and replaced the panels in their cabinet doors with the mullion and put the router inside. That way, the router is out of sight, but it’s still able to breathe. Remember, to monitor the router to make sure it has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating and fire.

Use a Grille

So if you want to try this, see if one of the panels can be removed from a cabinet door. If it does, pull it out, measure the opening, and send us those dimensions. Then we can cut a grille that’ll fit in that space. The easiest way to put ’em in, I think, is just to use a couple of glazing points. But, of course, you can use adhesive if you’d prefer.

Anyway, I hope that helps. It’s a pretty cool idea. I’ll try and include some pictures here so that you can see what they look like.
