Our Fascination with Light
It’s been fascinating to me just how many people have been interested in our window grills. Ever since the beginning when God said, let there be light, and there was light, we’ve been fascinated by light. We’ve been fascinated by the interplay of light and shadow, sun and shade, and our window grills give us the opportunity to play with light and to interplay with light, if you will, and to be able to see your window, but seeing through your window helps to create a different kind of atmosphere and environment in the home. And certainly creating intimate spaces in home is something just about everybody wants to do, especially in our chaotic, crazy pace of a world. We like to have a place that we can come back to and feel like we’re being sequestered.
Favorite Pattern
We have window grills like this one; this is the Alnwick. This is probably our favorite pattern, and I love the styling of this one as well. This offers you the opportunity to, on your windows, provide some extra privacy if you need to do that. If you want to make your room feel a bit more intimate, that also gives you that option.
Solve the Problem of Glare and Heat Gain
And then of course, if you need to deal with light issues, we have the option of adding on the solar screen. The solar screen is made by Phifer. It’s called the Solar 90, and it’s designed to block 90% of the sun’s glare, and we’ve been really impressed with that. I use it in our own shop to minimize the heat gained through our shop windows. It attaches directly to the back of the grill, so it comes pre-installed. All you have to do is basically peel the adhesive that’s on the magnets and put it on your glass.

We have about 12 different window grill inserts that you can buy and they resize to just about any shaped window you can possibly imagine. However, we do have the option of creating just about any window grill pattern that you might like. If you have something in particular you want to recreate, if you have a historic piece that you’d like to reconstruct, certainly give us a call. We have, like I said, the ability to cut just about any pattern you can conceive of, but we have picked the 12 patterns that you’ll see on our website as the ones that are basically our favorites.
